Which cards can be activated in Digital Banking?

Travis Credit Union consumer debit cards are currently eligible to be activated in Digital Banking.

Where else can I activate my Travis Credit Union cards?

To activate your card, please call the number provided on the activation label affixed to your card. If no label is attached, call the number on the back of your card. It is best to call from the number you have on file. You can also activate your card if it is a reissued card at any Travis Credit Union ATM.

How does lock/unlock work?

Lock your card to prevent it from being used for new purchases, without blocking your card permanently. When you lock or unlock your card, the change takes effect immediately.

When should I lock and unlock my card?

When you have misplaced your card it’s a good idea to lock your card temporarily until you can locate it. Once you locate your card just unlock and continue to use it as you did before locking/unlocking it.

What do I do if I’m unable to locate my card?

Keep your card locked and report your card lost/stolen in Digital Banking, call us at (800) 877-8328, or visit a local branch.

Which cards can be locked and unlocked?

Consumer debit cards are currently the only eligible card, for the locked and unlocked service. Any Trust Checking accounts are not eligible at this time.

Will my recurring transaction continue to be approved?

Yes. Recurring transactions that you set up prior to locking your card will continue to be processed as normal.

What transactions will be blocked?

  • New purchases (in-store, online, or over the phone)
  • ATM cash withdrawals or deposits

What transactions will be available when my card is locked?

  • Refunds/Purchase Returns: Merchants can still send credits or refunds to your card. This ensures you can get your money back if a return is processed after your card is locked.
  • Reversals/Voids: If a merchant needs to reverse a previous transaction (for example, a duplicate charge), these can still be processed.
  • Pre-authorized/Recurring Transactions: Some recurring or pre-authorized transactions (like subscriptions or utilities) that were set up before the lock may still go through but depend on how the merchant codes.
  • Zero-dollar Authorizations: Certain account verification checks (like $0 authorizations) may be allowed, depending on how the issuer configures exceptions.
  • Chargebacks/Adjustments: Fee processing, chargeback credits, or adjustments from the issuer or network may still be processed.
  • Balance Inquiries: You may still be able to check your balance at ATMs or online/mobile banking.

Is there a limit to the number of times I can lock/unlock my card?

No, you can lock/unlock your card as many times as you need.

How long does my card stay locked?

A card will stay locked until the primary cardholder unlocks it.

How soon will my card become locked/unlocked after I submit my requests?

The request will be effective immediately.

Report a Lost or Stolen Card

What if my current address doesn’t match the address displayed during the report my card lost and stolen online process?

Contact the Member Service Center at (800) 877-8328 to update your address before submitting the lost and stolen request. If you need to block your card immediately, please use lock/unlock function.

Do I need to update my card information with my recurring transactions?

We recommend contacting your service providers directly to confirm or update your payment information as needed. For your convenience, your updated card details may be automatically shared with participating merchants to help ensure your recurring payments continue without interruption.

When will I receive my card in the mail?

You will receive your new card in the mail within 7-10 business days.

When will my card be blocked and stop working?

After submitting your card lost or stolen request, your card will be immediately blocked for all transactions.

How do I activate my Travis Credit Union replacement card?

There are several ways to activate your new card.

  • Log-in to Digital Banking under Card Services and activate your new card.
  • Call the number provided on the activation label affixed to your card. If no label is attached, call the number on the back of your card. It is best to call from the number you have on file.
  • At any Travis Credit Union ATM if you know your PIN.

What if there are unauthorized transactions on my card?

Contact the Member Service Center at (800) 877-8328 to report any unauthorized transactions.

Will my card number change?

Yes, your replacement card number will be a new 16-digit card number.

Do I need to update my digital wallet?

Access your digital wallet to verify that your information has been updated. If it hasn’t, follow the normal prompts to add your new card number.

Visa Account Updater

Visa Account Updater will provide you with a seamless transition when your Visa debit card expires or is replaced. This service will automatically update your saved card number and/or expiration date with participating merchants whenever your information changes.*

All TCU Visa debit cards will be automatically enrolled in Visa Account Updater. It's automatic – there's nothing you need to do to initiate this service. However, it is important to know that participation in Visa Account Updater does not relieve you of the obligation to ensure that merchants have your correct debit card information on file.

3D Secure (3DS) Authentication

What is 3D Secure?

3D Secure, also known as 3DS, is a technical standard created by Visa that adds an additional layer of protect to online debit card and credit card transactions.

How does 3DS work?

When enabled, 3DS provides a 2-step authentication process for online purchases to prevent payment card fraud. To complete a purchase, TCU cardholders will have to enter a unique code to complete an online transaction with merchants who use 3DS.

Is my TCU card enabled for 3DS?

Travis Credit Union will automatically activate 3DS for TCU debit and credit cardholders. This will allow you to make purchases at merchants that require the added layer of security for check out.

How do I get my 3DS authentication?

If you’re attempting to make an online purchase with a merchant who uses 3DS, you will be prompted to receive a code, once received to your number on file, please enter the code with the merchant before it expires.

What are the advantages of 3DS Technology?

3DS adds a layer of protection for both the consumer and the retailer against fraud.

*Information updating service and authorizations
If you have authorized a merchant to bill charges to your Card on a recurring basis, it is your responsibility to notify the merchant in the event your Card is replaced, your account information (such as Card number or expiration date) changes, or your account is closed. However, if your Card is replaced or your account information changes, you authorize us, without obligation on our part, to provide the updated account information to the merchant in order to permit the merchant to bill recurring charges to your Card. You authorize us to apply such recurring charges to your Card until you notify us that you have revoked authorization for the charges to your Card. Your Card is automatically enrolled in an information updating service. Through this service, your updated account information (such as Card number or expiration date) may be shared with participating merchants to facilitate continued recurring charges. Updates are not guaranteed before your next payment to a merchant is due. You are responsible for making direct payment until recurring charges resume. To revoke your authorization allowing us to provide updated account information to a merchant, please contact us.
